The Marion Military Institute, where Marine Eugene Sledge attended school, will be shown in the film. Some key areas of the Institute such as the chapel will be rebuilt in Australia (the real location is in Alabama) and used for some key scenes showing Sledge in his early years at the nation’s oldest military junior college. Jon Seda, who was supposed to play a supporting character as “Rodriguez” has now been switched to take the lead role of Marine John Basilone. Interesting change…if anyone knows WHY this change was made, let us know.
One of the directors from Band of Brothers, Tony To, has signed on to direct an episode of “The Pacific”. Also, Graham Yost, a director from HBO’s From the Earth to the Moon, has signed on. Click here to see the crew list.

Canadian Jeremy Podeswa will direct one episode of “Pacific”. Podeswa’s recent film credit includes Fugitive Pieces which will open the Toronto Film Festival this year.
