Hmm, oddly enough after looking through those bios I just noticed that Sledge and Basilone were both born on Nov. 4th. Interesting coincidence...

(7 years apart, but still interesting! ;))

The Haldane one was probably the most well done to me

Wow, really? I thought exactly the opposite. The comments by the historians were good and the scenes were great but we didn't get to see any real pictures of the man himself. Nor did we learn that much about his life before the war other than where he went to college. I prefer that kind of stuff over scenes that we will be seeing anyway in the series.

Also it appears that the scene where Phillips and Sledge meet on Peleliu will be closer to real-life than what we had previously thought. Apparently they filmed it a couple different ways (I think someone said that on here, maybe AC?) because Phillips himself thought that they were just going to show them walking up and shaking each other's hand. I am glad to see that they do in fact show it as it happened.

What did you guys think of the original Saving Private Ryan documentary that came with the DVD? I still think it ranks as one of the best ...it was a very moving interview segment. Very well done.

HBO updated their interactive map and now includes part two of Guadalcanal. They also "promoted" both Pfc. Hillbilly Jones and Corrigan to 2nd Lts.
